The Praise House Project Opens at Emory Oct 19th

A HOMECOMING

October 19th, 7pm. Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church

The Praise House Project at Emory opens with a homecoming evening of reflection and performance in honor of the ancestors at historic Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church. The evening will include a tribute to the late Dr. Pellom McDaniels III, words from Reverend Dr. Avis Williams, descendant of Oxford where Emory was founded, a selection by Dr. Emorja Roberson,Emory Oxford faculty, an address by the artist, Charmaine Minniefield who will invoke the names of the ancestors of Emory while inviting audiences to recall the names of their own. Performing artists include Dj Salah Ananse, Mausiki Scales and Common Ground Collective, Giwayen Mata all-sistah, dance, percussion, and vocal ensemble, The Epic  Community Choir, Edeliegba Senior Dance Ensemble, harpists Afiya Cave and Amari Carpenter, and poet emcee Toni Blackman and more. Audience participation is expected. Offerings and white attire in honor of the ancestors are encouraged.
